About the Kirin

The Saskatoon Kirin Women's Rugby Club was established in 1975 by an amazing group of women and rugby players.

The Kirin are proud to play out of their home pitch, the Saskatoon Rugby Clubhouse, located on English Crescent off of Millar Avenue.

Outside of our regular season games the Kirin also enjoy participating in games and tournaments including Rugby Fest in Edmonton, SNAFU in Winnipeg, and games against other teams throughout Western Canada.

If you are interested in playing a competitive sport, meeting and making friends with some of the best women ever, and having an absolute blast, the Kirin welcome you to come and play for us regardless of age or experience!

Where can I contact you or get more information?

Please feel free to contact either our President (Sam Bassett) at kirinrfc15@gmail.com

OR visit our Facebook group or Instagram page for updates and other information!

Who can join?

If you are a female between the ages of 18 and 100 you are eligible to be a Kirin! Currently, our team has players who range from 16-33 years-old.

Never played rugby before? No problem, we will teach you! If you enjoy a competitive, fun sport, rugby is the sport for you.

Do I need experience?

Not at all! We start indoor training with the basics: how to pass the ball, how to run the ball, and the basic rules of the game. Even if you join mid-season someone is always there to help you learn the game. Some of our most valuable players come from people who have never touched a rugby ball in their life before joining us!

When and where do I sign up?

Our season runs from the end of February to the end of September, but welcome players any time throughout the season. We pride ourselves on being a welcoming and friendly group of ladies, so feel free to try it out and you will be met with open arms.

If you are interested in playing, contact us via email at kirinrfc15@gmail.com for more information on practice times and information, or feel free to just pop by one of our practices.

What equipment do I need?

A mouth guard and a pair of soccer or rugby cleats is all you need! If you don’t have these items but want to give this sport a try running shoes and a positive attitude will suit you just fine for now!

What is the time commitment?

Indoor training is once a week at the soccer center. Once the snow melts we move outdoors and practice twice per week (Monday and Wednesdays), as well as a game every other weekend. Can't make it to every practice or game? No problem! Give us as much time as you can.
